There appears to be some problems with adoptive
parents securing/selecting Dental care providers
for children covered by Medicaid. Here is a contact
for those in need of some help.
The deadline for chosing a provider is
Feb. 20th !!!!!
Please send all complaints, inquiries, and issues
relatedto Dental Expansion to managedcaredental@hhsc.state.tx.us.
Anyone who is having issues with getting children enrolled

Ann Bailiff passes the news that a confirmed
case of Whooping Cough has been identified
in a Middle School in Amarillo!!
The cautionary tale here is that some of the
"old illnesses" are rising up again and parents
should seek immediate attention for persistent
symptoms of wheezing and coughing.
The CDC reports that 27,500 cases were
confirmed last year, and the Amarillo Health
Dept. reports that 10 - 20 cases are reported
each year. Infants are most vulnerable. Children
are generally vaccinated 5 times for pertussis by
age 4. Adults might want to ask their Dr. about
getting a booster to reduce the risk of spreading
this once irradicated disease.
